Overview:
We are seeking a highly personable individual with exceptional business acumen to join our team as a Cloud Application Modernization Architect. This role requires a deep expertise in application development, scripting, and extensive hands-on experience with AWS hypervisors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in deploying and managing solutions, particularly focusing on Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation. Moreover, they should possess substantial experience in cloud microservices development, specifically with WebSphere, WebLogic on EKS, and Oracle RDS.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the modernization of enterprise-level cloud applications, emphasizing scalability and performance optimization.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate and streamline deployment processes.
  • Design and implement cloud-native microservices architectures, ensuring alignment with 12-factor application principles.
  • Provide technical leadership in application modernization projects, demonstrating ROI and addressing challenges effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into existing infrastructure and applications.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends in cloud development, applying them to enhance project outcomes.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Personality: Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills akin to current staff members, combined with a high degree of business acumen.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in application development and scripting.
  • AWS Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS hypervisors, with a heavy concentration in AWS solution deployment and management.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform and CloudFormation for automating infrastructure deployment.
  • Cloud Microservices: At least 7 years of experience in cloud microservices development at scale, particularly with WebSphere, WebLogic on EKS, and Oracle RDS.
  • Demonstrated Expertise: Ability to showcase anonymized project demonstrations and articulate accomplishments in achieving 12-factor native cloud applications through enterprise-level production environments.
  • Certifications: AWS Developer Associate and DevOps Engineer Professional certifications are required.
  • Communication: Strong ability to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders and team members effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven track record in resolving complex technical challenges related to cloud application modernization.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven programming.
