The Systems Engineer will support the Windows Server and Visualization-based Microarchitecture Workbench (VMW) environment including physical and virtual servers. This role monitors the performance of the servers to ensure all systems are performing adequately and all backups are being executed.

Minimum Education: Associate's degree in Information Technology or vocational/technical school degree in related field.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification:

  • Microsoft,
  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL),
  • Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) (A+, Network +, Security +, Etc.), preferred.


Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience inclusive of Tier II/III support and operations roles.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft management and operational tools:

  • Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, Azure AD, ADFS, IIS, Etc.
  • Ability to work with mobile-device management (MDM) platforms (Intune, WorkspaceOne) in rapidly growing mobile workforce.
  • Ability to configure, maintain and enhance enterprise monitoring platforms (SolarWinds, VMware vRealize Operations (vROps), Paessler Router Traffic Grapher (PRTG), Etc.). Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehensively document systems, procedures, protocols, provide technical analysis and recommend solutions. Functional knowledge of scripting protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot virtual desktop issues from both the end-user and application perspective.
  • Working knowledge of file shares and associated protocols. Functional knowledge of backup and recovery systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Installs, configures, maintains, manages, and troubleshoots MS Windows Server environments/applications hosted on Windows Servers.
  • Ensures operating environments are properly configured and functioning with specified network backup and storage components.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all systems, hardware, server and storage resources by reviewing key processes and system/application logs.
  • Applies and upgrades OS patches, administrative tools and utilities on a regular basis. Writes, maintains, and enforces server policies/procedures as well as developing instructions for software installations on host servers to promote safe and secure computing.
  • Provide technical oversight and consultation, as needed.
  • Configures and deploys mobile devices per end-user requirement.
  • Provides Tier III technical support for all enterprise systems including but not limited to: AD, Exchange, O365, and Azure.


Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.

Working Relationships:

  • Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise.)
  • Works with internal and external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
  • Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
